Hullo,

Sorry to disturb, but Hydra and I were wondering if perhaps you two might like to, er, double-date, what. Sometime.

I say, the thing is that we're meant to see each other with chaperones, if you follow me. But we thought perhaps you two wouldn't mind, seeing as--well. Seeing as you'd want to be alone just as much as we do.

Unless I'm much mistaken, in which case, we'll think of an alternative. It's no trouble.

alt_justin: (Dis-moi quoi?)
Sally-Anne,

How are you feeling?

I say, I've been reading back through all the Order posts, as well. I...have you come across the posts about Mr Milland--the real Mr Milland, that is?

Have you given any thought to whether you'll take Professor Dolohov's offer to stay in his N.E.W.T.-level course, regardless of marks?

I've been thinking about your week with your father. If there's anything you can think of to make it more tolerable, what, I hope you'll let us know. I'm not sure what I might be able to talk the Jugsons into doing or not doing but I feel certain I can shake off Alfie and Remy for most of the summer, what.

At this rate, we might well be devising missions for the Order before the end of July.

-Justin
alt_justin: (De rien)
Hullo,

I say, last Noble Arts lesson for the year! I suppose I've got to think of a graceful way to refuse his offer to come and study with him over the summer.

What did you think about what Draco said? About learning from Professor Dolohov so that we can plan how to counter it all? I take his point but I'm well certain whatever the Order have done up until now, they've had bally good reasons not to cross those lines. I'm sure if they thought they could learn the Dark Arts and not use them, they'd already have done, what?

Have you been reading back, in those Order posts? Anything you've found that disturbs? I say, I've seen a thing or two that took me rather by surprise but then I think, they weren't to know. It's well interesting seeing that Sirius didn't want me to stay, for one thing.

But thinking about Professor Dolohov's offer...Do you know, no one's told us much about what will happen over the summer, with the CCF or the YPL. Have you heard anything? If the Order can give us more lessons, do you think you'll be able to come?

I'm glad to have had Jack, these last few nights. He's helped considerably. Besides, it's probably jolly clever to get him used to me before I take him to the Jugsons', what!

I wish there were something we could do for Sally-Anne. Do you think her father would prevent her getting a care parcel?

-Justin
alt_justin: (Quel dommage!)
Sally-Anne,

What's your timetable this afternoon? Megan's been having more and more trouble in lessons all day. I say, I think she might need something to reverse the damage. If we can figure out how to get something to relieve her, what, without her being any the wiser as to who came to her aid.

Sue, don't you agree?

-Justin
alt_justin: (Serieux)
Hullo, Friends,

I say, I don't know about anyone else but I feel as if we ought to have some sort of celebratory pat on the back for getting through our first week back at school. Holidays are meant to relax and rejuvenate, what, but this past holiday was anything but that for me or for most of us, I expect. And now to be back here.... Well, if one must be honest, the tension was growing thick before we left for Easter and now it's jolly well palpable.

Pansy, well done for exhibiting restraint in the face of extreme adversity. And Sally-Anne, I say, you showed bravery and fortitude under the gaze of the whole of the rest of school. You always joke about Gryffindors but you could have fit right into their Common Room this week. To have endured such treatment--and on your birthday, too, what--well, if this were any other place I'd say that deserves a stiff drink.

Capper, don't worry: I'm sure the swelling will go down before you have to do too much writing. And Miss Rubens, I've heard that Myrtle quite likes company, so if you're cleaning her bathroom you might try engaging her in conversation. You may have to put up with rather more in the way of complaint than dialogue, what, but then she has so few people to talk to.

Now, if Peeves will kindly keep his chewing gum out of Hopkins' toothpaste tube, we may bally well be able to enjoy the weather this weekend and start revising for our O.W.L.s in the fresh air, at least!

-Justin
alt_justin: (Quel dommage!)
Happy birthday.

I'm sure it's not a happy one, what, but congratulations on it, all the same.

-Justin

Hello, all,

Well, I say. Luncheon was well interesting, what?

Mind you, I still find him treacherous. But there is something to be said for the lengths to which he's going to try to help us.

Oh, and jolly good show, all of you who are helping to harangue Madam Umbridge. I've been trying to think of other ways we might pester her.

Shall we make a list?

Is everyone ready for Friday? (Ron, old man, it certainly looked like you were ready for your leading lady, what!)

I say, Sally-Anne. I heard you found some 'luck' this equinox as well! Good form, you.

-Justin
alt_justin: (j'en sais rien)
Hullo,

I say, this waiting round at rehearsals is bally well disorganised, what? I'm well glad I brought homework.

(It wasn't too bad, today. Dark Arts. I even managed to answer a question on paired spellcasting and amplified magical effects without stammering. Professor Dolohov plans one of his 'informal luncheons' at the end of the week. I was thinking perhaps next week I should go and see who else turns up.)

Sally-Anne's post reminds me: I was supposed to ask you about whether you'd like a failsafe, in case things go horribly wrong. She's making a series of rings and--well, it's not a very pleasant thought but she plans to fill them with poison. If activated, the rings will 'notify' everyone else that someone's ring has, er, done its job, if you follow me. I say, I think there's an option to receive a ring that will notify without any poison in it. Because we've been thinking about--well, about someone trying to question us, what. And since none of us are an Occlumens it's bally well unlikely we'd be able to keep all our secrets for very long. Well, I say, I was supposed to ask you if you'd like one. If you do, tell Sally-Anne. I think we're trying to keep it quiet in case the discussion upsets others.

You'll understand I didn't wish to ruin our other conversation with talk about that, what! I've been thinking about that, a little more. Where and how. Have you found out anything your end? From Pansy or anyone else? I do think the 9th will be the ideal time, when everyone else has gone to Hogsmeade. Do you suppose the Divination Tower might be private enough? It's supposedly quite cosy. Only neither of us take Divination so we've no reason to be there, if anyone should try to stop us heading up there.

Does everyone in Slytherin go to the village?

-Justin
alt_justin: (élève)
Hullo,

I'm feeling much better tonight, though I'm not sure whether that's just because both Defence and Noble Arts are over, what? How are your exams going?

I'm also well glad Ron offered another jumper.

But it's just occurred to me: Ought I to have got presents for Mr and Mrs Jugson? I've a small something to give Alfie and Remy (despite how he's been acting toward you, what!) but I didn't even consider what they might like.

Perhaps I can ask Sally-Anne to order some Stretton jam on account.

I'm over halfway through my Transfiguration essay but I say, I'm not at all sure how I shall be able to go to Duelling Club tomorrow, there's so much left to do.

And with a Charms exam at the end of next week, I think we ought to get our revising group together. What do you say, Ron, old chap? Sally-Anne? Ernie and Sue? We might meet in the library for the books Professor Acton mentioned, what, with additional information on silence and noise-related charms. Anyone else interested?

-Justin
alt_justin: (petit chou)
Good evening,

I was reading posts about the beginning of last year and I suddenly came across the posts from Hermione's birthday.

I say, it's tomorrow, isn't it?

Ought we to try to do something for her? Or have you two already arranged something I missed?

-Justin
alt_justin: (C'est vrai!)
Harry,

I say, thanks very much for thinking to ask me and Patil to bring others last night. I hope we alleviated some concerns for the Gryffindors, what? I know some of us are still none too comfortable learning Professor Dolohov's subject but at least one can agree that the fellow does seem a reasonable enough chap.

As I said, my primary concern is that he does seem to expect rather a lot from us all, when we've other work to be doing for our other professors, as well. It's jolly well and good to love one's topic, what, but perhaps Mr Capper's unfortunate outcome can show us all the dangers of loving it to the exclusion of everything else!

Have any of the others given you any sense of whether it was helpful? Mind you, I think we bally well might need more protection from Madam Umbridge's particular brand of enthusiasm than from Professor Dolohov's, if you follow me. I say, she is aware that we're teenagers, what, and not still in our nursery room skirts? I quite wonder whether she realises that the YPL is good and all, but part of why we all liked Professor Siz so much was she treated us like we had half a brain among us. Did you see her message? I say, do you suppose she really wants to hear our opinions? Somehow I doubt anything other than wholesale agreement would meet with her approval, but of course one would never suggest a former Minister for Magic to be anything other than professional in the performance of her duties, what?

Listen, a few of us, including Sally-Anne and some others, were thinking of starting a Dark Arts revising group. If you'd like to join us, I'm sure you'd be welcome. I can't speak for the others, of course, but I daresay no one would be fussed if you cared to bring Miss Granger along as well. In case you needed her for anything, of course.

I'd have written to you earlier but I ran out of time at lunch and we've only just sat down in History of Magic, so it's the first chance I had since last night.
alt_justin: (non rasé)
Hello,

I say, that was certainly a gruelling first day for me; how was yours?

What did you think of Professor Dolohov? At our table the others were all asking for our opinions. I said I had nothing much to compare but that he seems to set a high standard but a fair one. I mean to say. Assigned seating isn't something I've encountered before, even at Beauxbatons, what. Though I knew some people there who had it in primary school.

I've a feeling we're going to be quite challenged, if the first lesson is anything like the pace he intends to maintain. But if what he's said is true, at least we shan't have to hex each other in lessons. I suppose that's a blessing. Do you think that will make it easier on our Neville? I say, I know Neville's stalwart, what, but I'm well worried about how much he's worried about this. I hope it's more the dread of the thing than the thing itself, what? And that once he's in lessons he'll find it's not as intolerable as he fears. We've each other to keep perspective, what?

I'm working on the first Charms assignment. What about you?

Oh, by the way, I've asked Susan Bones and some of the others if they'd like to revise. That might give us an opportunity to meet without making a meal of the thing, if you follow me. We can always break apart into smaller groups to discuss the finer points. And if not, then at least we'll have a revising group.

-Justin
alt_justin: (Maintenant)
Hullo, All,

I'm back at the Jugsons' and Remy has been telling Alfie all about our 'adventures,' as he calls them, what. At least he's not well excited about Madam Umbridge coming to Hogwarts to run the YPL. I say, it probably would have been too difficult to hold my tongue if he were.

I was a bit worried at first that Remy would be jealous because I earned two of those bally old awards and he had none. It's odd, though, because he seemed even more proud of them than I am, as if somehow it reflects on him as well. Alfie was more upset by it than Remy, what? I'm not half sure what to make of that.

But at least it's over for the nonce. Although it sounds as if Madam Umbridge has no intention of allowing us to rest during the year, what? I say, I've never been quite so sorry to be right as when we learned she'll be quartered at school.

Speaking of which, when do you lot expect to go to Diagon Alley for your school things? Thankfully, the Jugsons have scheduled no more parties but it should be relatively simple to arrange to meet whenever others are going to New London.

I've been thinking more about Sirius' letter to you, Sally-Anne. In particular about his saying that we should all be talking more with each other about our opinions. I say, I don't know what you asked, apart from what you said, but I think he might mean that if we've already made friends we trust, we ought not to stop trusting them just because we think something different to one another. Or perhaps because we're afraid that those thoughts will end the friendship.

I think the Protectorate wishes us to distrust one another and to think that each of us is alone in any misgivings we might have. I think it works, what? I mean to say, Darius was so upset mainly because he didn't think he could talk to anyone. Luna, that's not your fault, what, nor anyone's in particular, except that no one wished to be the one who stepped forward. Or perhaps no one thought it was his place to do so.

It makes one wonder how many others are foundering in their own doubts, what?

It's got me to thinking about what we can do, as a group. Not bringing more people into the lock, obviously; I'm not going to open up that can of worms again, what!--but perhaps there's something to be done under the guise of something innocuous. What about a club? We could make it invitational and only invite the ones we think are bound to be reasonable. And Lee and the twins could come as well. Perhaps we could create some sort of educational lecture that we could have if we think someone's untrustworthy?

-Justin
alt_justin: (S'il-vous plait)
Hello,

Remy can't stop worrying about what's to become of Warrington. He left this morning, did you notice? Not even a proper announcement about it. I think it's that more than anything that has Remy concerned, only I keep trying to assure him that the counsellors are likely just respecting Darius's privacy, what? I mean to say, it's not as if they'd bally well announce he's withdrawn due to cracking up on that overnight camping exercise.

I say, Sally-Anne, thanks for coming over when it all started. I rather wish Remy had said something more about him before we started our hike but I'm well certain no one expected him to go berserk like that.

I know I've been somewhat distant but I think you'll agree it takes a fair amount of concentration not to say or do the wrong thing under these circumstances. You've both every right to tell me you told me how it would be. I knew it, too. It's not that it's worse than I was expecting, quite. It's.... I've been distracted and rather focused, is all. I do apologise if it's seemed as if I'm not myself.

-Justin
alt_justin: (C'est moi)
Hello, friends,

How was the New London trip, what?

I say, CCF is coming up rather quickly, isn't it? Remy and I have gone swimming twice this week but I think overall I'm still well unprepared for whatever they're going to throw at us. Have you lot had any hints at all, as you've been counselling?

The Jugsons took me out to another party this afternoon. This one was at the Derwent home and Ron, your sister was there as well. Did you know she would be going?

The Derwents are rather nice although they seem to be the sort with loads of well boring acquaintances. There were a number of people our age, though, which made the time pass more quickly.

I've been terribly occupied all summer long and yet, I suppose it sounds a bit rich to say, but, I do miss home. Dijon, I should say. Only in little things, what? Like the fresh bread our cook made every other day or the chimes on the clock in my mother's salon. My old bed and the books I left behind. The view from my window onto the Rue de Talant. I miss television commercials and believe me, I never thought I should miss those in the slightest!

You've every right to tell me it serves me right, what? Still. I'm sure I shall snap out of it once we're all together again at the CCF exercises. Something about the party this afternoon made me think of home, I think.

Well, enough of that. Sally-Anne, you'd said you were going to write more to us, about visiting your mother? Do you think she's going to join forces with Mrs Weasley and Madam Pomfrey and become a three-witch crime-fighting squadron, what?

How is everyone else enjoying their holidays?

-Justin
alt_justin: (Brilliante!)
Hullo, all,

I say, I've been reading the discussions about Fred and George's recommendations but I've tried to let the others have a say in it first.

Neville, I well see your point that the more people we add, the more likely it is someone will learn of the lock who ought not know about it. And Luna, I appreciate the offer of the press and perhaps there's a use for it but I think Ron's right, it'd be too easy for someone to track down a whole printing press and then it's only a matter of time before they find the rest of us, what?

But in the meantime, I know that Sally-Anne in particular hoped that since Hydra's an Occlumens, she might show talent for Legilimency to help the rest of us learn. Well, I didn't ask straight out, what, but the subject did come up recently and she confirmed that she's not at all interested in trying to learn the skill. I say, I hope that changes no one's opinion? Because, well, as you know, I'm obviously in favour of bringing her in as soon as I can bally well arrange to tell her in person and show her how to write here.

As for others, Ron, I quite like Susan Bones and think she'd be a fine addition. Perhaps we ought to think about people we believe could be trusted with the lock, versus people who simply need a group of others with whom they may be encouraged to speak candidly? Because...well, Hogwarts has loads of clubs, hasn't it? I say, could we start some sort of club that no one would seriously consider joining, so that we can pick and choose the people to invite? Rather like Pansy's Teatime of the Strange? And then we could sound them out there while protecting the lock, and only add them on once we're reasonably sure they'll respect it?

Or perhaps there's some other code we might develop, what? I'm not sure. But I do think we're all clever enough to figure something out.

-Justin
alt_justin: (Chouette!)
Hullo,

Loki Dames just passed me a note from the Headmistress. I'm to come up this afternoon, when exams are over for the day but before supper. The Heads of Houses will be there.

So I suppose if anyone wants to come along, it'll be today.

I thought you two might be the best ones to pass the word. Hydra hasn't decided if she should come or not but either way, I thought it'd be best to write something semi-public about it, what?

-Justin
alt_justin: (C'est vrai!)
Hullo, all,

Viktor called the Strettons' and Mrs Stretton answered. She told him that Sally-Anne couldn't come and speak to him as she's been grounded. He said she was polite but a bit frosty, what, and mentioned that Sally-Anne's been coming and going on her own too much for a girl of her age. I say, it sounds as if she wasn't impressed by Krum at all. I hope that didn't make things worse for her, having an older boy ask for her.

He asked if she was all right and Mrs Stretton said yes, she's fine. He asked if he could speak to Jeremy. She didn't bally well like that, what, but she had him fetched to the grate and he more or less confirmed that Sally-Anne's all right and that she'd see us on the train. Of course, Viktor says Mrs Stretton was just there off to the side, so Jeremy could hardly do anything else, if you follow me.

Has anyone else heard more?

Oh, and Ron: I can't tell you much about the Quidditch, sorry to say. I, er, fell asleep, what?

-Justin
alt_justin: (Non.)
Hullo, Hermione,

Is it as difficult for you to read about Sally-Anne's mother as it is for me? I hardly know what to say, what, and certainly I think it's not at all fair to compare her situation with mine. Though I rather doubt I shall be here, anyway, come summer.

I say, I wonder if Hydra is still helping Harry with his preparation for the Task? I tried to talk to her after supper last evening and she said she was busy again, what. I rather think she might be cross with me and

well

Has she been...spending time with him, lately?
