Ron,

I say, it's a pleasant spring afternoon's work, what.

Still, I suppose one should enjoy it while's on offer. I don't expect I shall be pulled out of the office for this sort of thing when I'm ensconced in International Magic.

That is, if there still is a Department of International Magic, if we can't restore access to Dover's ports.

In any event, the reason I'm writing: Antonin thinks we should be ready for another assignment in about twenty minutes or so. Have you and Professor Desai any need of assistance?

We commandeered a Floo, since we were all too tired to risk Apparating to Hogsmeade. And Professor Desai was badly injured. So we're all back and dispersed from the Headmaster's office. Sally-Anne came back with us, as well, and is assisting her to the Hospital Wing.

Well, I should say everyone's back except Hydra, what. We were about to leave and Bellatrix Lestrange told her she had to stay and help with interrogation. I say, I hope she'll be able to misdirect MLE to some extent.

I...I say, I know I speak for her and for Ron when I can tell you that today was one of our most difficult tasks. Knowing that we had to choose among every person running from the fires and those monsters, whether to let them get away, to risk injuring them and allowing their capture, or to simply kill them so they could not give anything to the enemy. It was especially hard when one could tell they'd just survived a harrowing ordeal with the Inferi, and were fighting to get back to the base camp, what, though that doesn't mean it was any less horrible when they were merely running for their lives.

The last--two hours or so.... I can't even begin to describe how many times one had to suppress every urge to protest. I'm sure it's going to be a long time before any of us get a proper night's sleep.

I'm sorry. For Major Davidson, for everyone at Sherwood, for the citizens of Ollerton.... There's nothing else to say, what. I'm so dashed sorry we had to participate in that charade.

I'm bally well sure some of you may not understand or may want to talk to us about what happened. Mrs Longbottom, we'll try to put together our brief soon, but...please, I beg of you, give us a little time to--recover.

Professors,

The open area nearest the west train yard is completely overrun. The enemy have been issuing significant heavy arms fire but with very little effect on the inferi, as anticipated.

The Headmaster and I are rounding up the handful who have managed to make the tracks and we'll be bringing them back to the main rendezvous point in a moment. He's received word of our next position and requests you send someone here to monitor this escape route; it's little more than cleanup at this point.

Professor Desai, there's a curious rune stone near the postern gate to the meadow, which Professor Dolohov thinks you might find edifying. He's asked you to have a look when you've a moment.

It's one of those days when one feels truly lucky to be resident in the Protectorate. The opportunity to take advantage of a duelling course such as the Headmaster and Professor Desai have provided is jolly well exciting. I can't wait to test out the dummies; Headmaster Dolohov was bally well pleased with the job he and Professor Desai did on them. He hinted at a few surprises that ought to present quite the challenge.

The Headmaster has also asked me to provide brief tutorials to those of you who might be unfamiliar with etiquette for a duelling obstacle course. I was fortunate enough to have run the course already this morning, what, and found it quite the workout. I plan to go through it another two or three times this week.

So if anyone would like an orientation, I should be able to take four or five people through the basics in about half an hour. I say, what about Saturday, for those of you who need to arrange your testing with the Professors? I'll conduct one tour at 9:30, after breakfast, and another before supper, at 5:30. For everyone's safety, what, one ought to limit the number to no more than six, so please leave a note here to let me know if you'd like to participate.

Harry,

I say, well done today, old man. How are you feeling? Sorry I couldn't work out a better way to keep Finnigan and Patil from doing their best, what. I did recommend we go careful where the Lord Protector's son was concerned but Patil seemed to think Professor Desai would take that amiss.

Then again, of course, Professor Desai didn't give one much time to plan a properly innocuous spell, what. Still, one tried without making it seem to go too easy.

She didn't half seem pleased, though, which seems jolly good, considering she might have taken it differently.

For everyone else, Professor Desai had us organise in threes. I say, Patil presumed I'd be joining her and Finnigan and it seemed the wrong time to put up a fuss. When everyone else had all chosen partners, only Harry, Zach, Bulstrode and Jones were left. Bulstrode rather pushed her way in with Harry and Zach, leaving only Megan, but Professor Desai said that she'd a special use for her and called her forward.

When it became clear Professor Desai meant to make Jones defend against all comers, what, Harry volunteered to take her place. I say, Professor Desai took it bally well graciously, considering, and let him. Harry, what was the spell she recommended you use? Seemed to work a treat at keeping the worst of the rebounded curses at bay. Not all, though, what.

Perhaps if you decide to sacrifice yourself in future, you might consider appointing some of us as a replacement. No one of us can reasonably defend for a whole two hours at a stretch, alone; if we take it in turns, we stand a chance of keeping ourselves reasonably healthy.
