Holiday Season

Ron, Sally-Anne, Harry, Draco - whomever else, really:

I say, we're popping in to Madam Puddifoot's for a hot toddy. Anyone who'd care to join us is welcome. It's well jolly when it's not decked out in hearts and lace and such. They're serving the toddies and hot rum punch and a buttered cider, if one prefers.

It's too bad Zonko's hasn't any of the Weasley products, what? I can think of several little things in their line that would make excellent stocking stuffers.

Nonetheless, the other shops here in Hogsmeade have certainly turned out for the holidays. Hydra was admiring the charmed icicles in the windows at Honeyduke's. The shopgirl said they're made of spun sugar. I think we might stop back in to get some for the tree in Hufflepuff's common room.

Gladrag's windows were also rather well done. All those charmed snowflakes.

Has everyone made good progress on Christmas shopping? I've been bally well pleased with the selection this year.

And did anyone else see the skating rink? It's just off the low road. I think some of the people who live there have charmed it for the day. I say, we might have a go after lunch.

I am very glad I came. Ernie was pleased that there was more adventure than snogging this time. I mean, oh you know what I mean. In the you-know. Not actual snogging. Also it helped that things were so interesting that people forgot to glare at me after the first few minutes. Mostly. So that was better than I had expected okay. So I am glad I came.

Harry was very welcoming, I thought. But then he is good at that. He is reassuring. And very sensible.

Yes, quite. We did worry that there might be some objection but luckily everyone decided there were more important concerns.

I'm sure if anyone were glaring, you can appease the hard feelings most by simply proving trustworthy. Which, in this case, I daresay is in everyone's interest, what. I mean to say, you'll want to know the end of the story just as much as the next person.

Besides, after everything last year, I'm not keen to find myself the odd man out.

You needn't upset Jones by telling her but we weren't well sure whether to let you stay or not. I vouched for you, personally, to Harry and the others. It's good to hear I've not misplaced my word of honour, old chap.

Why don't you and Jones come skating? We've transfigured our boots and it's really rather fun.

Did I see an owl by your place at breakfast? I say, any news?

I've been asked to take an internship at the Ministry but not in MLE. Mr Pontner in International Magical Relations would like me to help in his office for the holidays. I think he's some idea of trying to develop a sort of liaison position with Education and Public Information, what, and believes my experiences will be useful.

Of course, I'm quite honoured and I'm sure the Jugsons can have no objection. Though I had almost been looking forward to two weeks with jolly well nothing to do but relax! Still, it's important to think of one's future, isn't it?

I saw Mandy Brocklehurst flick her finger out at Kitty Bundy and Kitty did it back and they both grinned at each other like they felt utterly wicked (in a good way).

Skating was brilliant! Thank you for letting inviting us along.

I was surprised that I stayed up as much as I did. Ernie was so funny. But he was brilliant doing Leviosa on me to keep me from hitting the ice that one time. He was so very gentlemanly to try to keep me from falling even when he was falling over himself.
