We're back in the Great Hall. The lower years are being given lunch in their common rooms (and presumably supper as well, what). The examiners tried to make us sit our Potions N.E.W.T. but gave it up for a bad job after only the first two hours.

Zach came back a little before luncheon. He still looks a little green round the edges but he seems pleased with himself. I heard that two more students were Cruciated early this morning for writing sedition: Adelheid Zimmerman and Katrina Fitzgibbon. I think everyone was asleep, or trying to sleep, what. Luna, could you check on Fitzgibbon? And Sue, perhaps your sister or brother would look in on Zimmerman. I'm not sure they're back from the Hospital Wing yet.

It's bally well tense, what, but currently it's down to a dull simmer.

Unfortunately, as yet there's been no chance to slip off to collect anyone's wands but we'll continue to watch for an opportunity. Or create one, what.

Above all, let us know when you're in position and wish to begin any sort of assault. We can make sure to alert the others. Even without wands, we can activate the X on the Galleon and everyone will erupt into action.

Hang in there, everyone. We'll all right for now.

The first time I saw it, I did catch my breath. It's -- his handwriting is just like it was before. And then to keep seeing it again and again.

But I've got used to it now, I think.

I wish I knew what everyone was planning.

If I know them it's something brilliant, what. We've only got to hang on and be ready when they move in.

Love, if it comes down to it, and they're not in time, I'll use my first available shot to take out whomever's in charge in the room. If it's a choice between killing the 7th-years or breaking our cover...I'm not going to keep pretending.

Yes, I think the moment where we show our true loyalties is drawing nearer. I wish it hadn't come to this, though. I feel as if we've all been backed into a corner, somehow.

Showing our true colours is our way of getting out of the corner, to my way of thinking. He'd like us to think we only have two choices but there's a third.

I do have some degree of confidence that the Order will coordinate enough of their plan--whatever it turns out to be--that we'll have sufficient notice to get the wands. I think it's something we can do, what. It means leaving Seamus and Padma in charge for a while, but it's worth the risk. We might prevail upon Pansy and Susan to help start a diversion, if necessary.

People have been standing by and letting him do horrible things for so long I'm sure that he expects it will go that way again. Because it always goes that way.

I wish I could say with confidence that every other student is thinking of joining us when we fight, but mostly everyone is afraid, and just wants this to stop. Belinda and Morag can't even believe this is happening to them. Seamus keeps thinking about how Padma might not be able to kill Linus or Lavender, if she's ordered to, and how he might have to kill Padma if she falters. And he'll do that if he must, but he'd rather Lana S-P do it. And he's also thinking about how Ron will probably try to kill an enforcer if he's ordered to kill Sally Anne, and Seamus is trying to decide if this time, he'll petrify Ron or just kill him.

Padma's wondering if there's any way to cast something that looks like AK without it actually being AK.

Other people are just waiting for Harry to arrive.

I could have still passed Potions, I think. If they hadn't sent us back to the Great Hall. Not so sure about getting an O, though.

We should think about things we might plausibly want for our own comfort that we could turn into weapons. I don't think Dolohov is going to lift a finger to save us, but he's eager to make us as comfortable as possible in the meantime. He sent down some of his private stock of cruciatus palliative, for instance, after I asked him last night. We had bedding last night and today when we got back from the NEWT they changed their mind about, we had cushioned chairs arranged in little circles around rugs with our House symbols, like he's trying to give us little common rooms.

Anyway, 'it would make me feel ever so much better to have some muggle explosives' won't work, but maybe, I don't know, anyone got other ideas?

I know just what you mean about Potions. I wasn't having much trouble but I feared Dunstan was going to set the classroom on fire before she'd even filled her cauldron with water.

I should like to have finished, what. It would have been a relief to have something else on which to concentrate.

As for your suggestion, perhaps the next time we need palliative, I could ask to go to the Headmaster's Office myself? I do know where he keeps his stock but I could also possibly ransack the cupboard for other tools. Grooming tools also might be a reasonable suggestion, what. Razors and nail clippers and such. Or...knitting needles?

Raz and I talked about if

Blankets and sheets you could throw over someone's head or use to tie them up.

Things that could be thrown, that are hard or heavy. Or could be transfigured to be quickly by someone with a wand.

Wood, if you could break it off quickly - like chair legs, or poles or something like that.

Maybe asking for games. Chess pieces or rolling parts to go under someone's feet.

Anything you could spill that would make the ground slick. Oil, maybe, if you could ask for some with a meal. Or sticky, like honey. If you have candles, hot wax in the face is horrible but effective.

Things you could use to barricade a space if you had to. Though if they left the tables in there, those would do fine.

I have just been up sitting with Katrina in her room. She is rather shaky and tearful, but still defiant.

I wish we had some lemons to give her. Lavinia Levingworth, one of her dorm mates, had some lemon perfume, and we dabbed a bit on her, hoping that the smell might help a little.

It probably won't but it's all that we can do.
