I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good
Hullo, All,
Well, I've had my first taste of the Hufflepuff dormitories, what? I say, it really is quite cosy, if ever so slightly cramped, with six of us. (And Summers is rather a giant, isn't he? Plus he and Smith are bally well slovenly, I must say.) But it's near the kitchens so it ought to be comfortable in the winter months. And it's closer to Slytherin's common room entrance than Ravenclaw Tower is, at any rate.
The Jugsons were pleasant enough. Mr Jugson seemed well stiff at the press conference but I think that was perhaps the reporters and cameras; he was jolly kind afterward when we were talking. Hydra's right about Mrs Jugson, though: She's well sober and not at all gracious. But I'm sure everything will be fine. At least Mr Jugson did say straight off that he had no intentions of creating any difficulties. I say, perhaps Mr Rosier spoke to him beforehand. I shouldn't wonder if he'd shared my concerns, what.
Remy and Alfie may be another matter but as Hydra says, I'm older and a good deal taller than either of them. I only hope they don't decide that two-on-one is a sporting ratio, what? (Joking, for the most part. Remy in particular knows that I've as much damning information on him as he has on me, so I rather think he can be relied upon to keep Alfie in line.)
Pansy, you're right: Susan Bones is cracking good fun. Megan Jones and Ernie MacMillan are both well nice, too. Hopkins and Stebbins are quiet but I expect that's just because none of us know one another too well yet. I say, it's no Gryffindor Tower, Ron, but on the whole I think I shall be most content.

Megan is so quiet I hardly know much about her at all, except for that one time the Patils made fun of her.
Does Eloise Midgen know you're taken yet?
Smith has a constant chip on his shoulder around pretty much everyone. I'm not sure if it's different when he's around friends, but he can be quite rude sometimes. Especially to girls.

And, yeah. That was a laugh, Midgen trying to get her hooks in you right off.
Macmillan's all right, though. Family lives in some castle now, too. You should see if he'll invite you there sometime.
But not until after we have a Burrow day. You're coming this time. I'll ask Mum when we can have it. Maybe while Ginny's away for CCF. If she does it. I mean, who even knows, right? It might go against her contract because she might break a nail or something. Or maybe they'll get her in and then send cameras to take her picture all through the exercises. I'm sure that'd make Professor Siz's day.

Smith's all right, I think, just a little too blunt for his own good, what. And used to being the leader among our year in the House. Oh, and Midgen's fine, as well. It's no trouble.
A Burrow day sounds well brilliant, what, but I'm sorry to say that if it's to be while Ginny's away at CCF, I shall miss it as well. I'm to stay here with the rising 4th-years for my own CCF testing, if you follow me.
But I know that you've a plan to help Sally-Anne visit her mother. So if that's when it has to be, by all means, that must go forward, of course. I say, that's well important.

Glad to hear you think you'll be happy there.

I say, when were you there, old man? Smith was telling me that no one other than a Hufflepuff has discovered the way in to
theirour common room for centuries. But I'm sure no one bothered to tell him, if he's wrong, what?Oh. I mean to say, if you'd like to say when you went there, of course. I shouldn't like to pry, if you don't wish to talk about the occasion.

The Ravenclaw Common room is really lovely. It has big arched windows that overlook the mountains, and the constellations are painted on the ceilings. It's all decorated in blues and bronze. Quite an aery feeling to it.

It's rather the way I imagine a Hobbit-hole must look. Oh, I say, you've probably not read The Hobbit, have you? Well. It's just underground but not bare or dirty, of course. The doors are round. Professor Sprout apparently brings all sorts of well interesting cuttings in and there's artificial sunlight to keep them healthy and green and growing.
I can well understand why Neville fancied it.
It's also got a snug little fireplace and loads of comfortable sofas and overstuffed chairs and such, all in yellow and black, but otherwise well smashing.
Oh, and the beds have patchwork quilts for comforters and copper bedwarmers of an evening. Quaint, isn't it?
