Maybe you could put that in the letter -- that you were looking into a solicitor to help you sort through the necessary paperwork for banks and things, because you were very serious about considering your options, or something. So they wouldn't be taken by surprise if you ended up with one.

And the solicitor wouldn't just be for finances -- he'd also help with other things -- only you wouldn't have to put that in there.
